Winter Skin Care

Don't hibernate indoors during winter fearing the cold air could steal the bloom from your cheeks.Instead try simple tricks that will keep you glowing despite the falling mercury.

Change the Cleansing Routine

"When it comes to winter skin care, the most important thing is to keep your skin from drying out in the first place,"says Margaret Weiss,MD,Professor of dermatology at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore,MD.

  • Start with your cleansing routine, since washing removes the protective surface oils from your skin.A teaspoon of full-fat milk once a day works well as a natural cleanser, sans the chemicals that irritate your skin

  • Oily skinned women are generally all right for winter. But keep a lookout for signs of dryness when you will need to trade in your oil-zapping cleanser for a milder formula

  • If your skin is mormal, however,Weiss advices using a non-soap cleanser once a day.

  • Moisturise,moisturise,moisturise--This can't be emphasised enough.Skin is nourished by blood and lymphfluid, and since blood flows less when you are cold, you'll want to compensate by giving skin extra protection and nourishment.

  • Regenerate your skin's appearance by using products that feature amino-peptides,which work by renewing the skin's outer cell.

  • Due to radical changes, each winter is different so you cannot depend on the moisturiser that worked perfect for you last winter which may not work this winter. So experiment on different products and find the best one.

  • And finally don't neglect your arms and legs. You may not slather yourself with body lotion normally, but in the winter, make an exceptionto the rule

Enjoy every winter and take care of your skin
